Abstract

GENERAL OBJECTIVE: The study was conducted to determine if there was any significant difference in the level of satisfaction of paying and non-paying patients undergoing physical therapy rehabilitation with the services of the physical therapy interns.

STUDY DESIGN: Descriptive-Comparative design.

RESEARCH SITE: The study was conducted at Cebu Doctors' Hospital Out-Patient Department and San Nicolas Rehabilitation Center.

SUBJECTS: The study utilized 10 paying and non-paying adult patients, male or female, who are capable of communicating with others and has undergone at least 10 treatment sessions.

DATA COLLECTION PROCEDURE: The patients were given the Client Satisfaction Questionnaire (CSQ8) by the researchers in the absence of the physical therapy intern assigned to them during the interview. The CSQ8 by C. Clifford Attkinson (1987) is an 8 item easily scored and administered measure designed to gauge client satisfaction with the services received and was scored by summing up the individual item scores to produce a range of 8-32 with the higher scores indicating greater satisfaction.

RESULTS: Tabulation shows that 90% of paying patients garnered a score of 24 and above and only one (1) got a score of 23 while 100% on non-paying patients garnered a score of 24 and above.

CONCLUSION: Based on our study there is no significant difference between the level of satisfaction of paying and non-paying patients with the services they are receiving from the physical therapy interns of Cebu Doctors' Hospital Out-Patient Department and San Nicolas Rehabilitation Center.
