Abstract

Aqueous garlic extract (Allium sativum) has been experimented for antimicrobial activity on gram (+), Staphylococcus aureus  and gram (-), Escherichia coli by Kirby-Bauer Disk Diffusion Method using sterile improvised filter paper discs.


The Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) of the garlic extract ranging from 50% to 0.6% were tested on both organisms, with Escherichia coli exhibiting greater sensitivity compared to Staphylococcus aureus.
