Abstract

The sensitivity, specificity, and predictive values of 10 different ECG criteria were tested against echocardiographically determined LV mass using the elderly group aged 65 years old and above as the study group. The results showed low sensitivity for the ECG but acceptable specificity and positive predictive values. The Romhilt-Estes scoring has the most value in the ECG diagnosis of LVH in the elderly.
