  1. Chronic Kidney Disease Stage 5 (CKD-5) – functional or structural kidney damage with duration of more than 3 months irrespective of cause, with estimated glomerular filtration rate of < 15ml/min/1.73 m2 and requiring maintenance renal replacement therapy
  2. Renal Replacement Therapy – treatment modality given among CKD-5 patients which includes hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis.
  3. Peritoneal dialysis (PD) – a form of renal replacement therapy for chronic kidney disease stage 5 where the patient’s own peritoneal membrane acts as the dialyzer membrane removing toxins, uremic solutes, and excess fluid that accumulates in the blood.
